It’s true that many Google applications use server-side updates to test future features with a limited audience. However, things are a bit different on YouTube. However, there is a list of upcoming improvements available to Premium subscribers that anyone can try. Now there is another very interesting novelty on YouTube (smart downloads), although for the time being they are more limited.
YouTube starts smart downloads! will use?
The new feature being tested by Google is called Smart Downloads and it is dedicated to the Android application. In practice, it takes one of the best YouTube Music tools to the main application, as mentioned on the 9to5Google website. Once activated, Smart automatically downloads recommended videos to your smartphone over a Wi-Fi network so you can watch them anywhere. Meanwhile, the downloaded content will show up in the Library tab along with the play history and playlists, as mentioned on the Android Police website.
However, there are limits. The maximum number of videos downloaded each week is 20, so you don’t have to worry about YouTube stealing all your smartphone’s internal storage.
Unfortunately, not everyone can participate in this final experiment. Although they have a premium account. In any case, it is much more active in Europe than anywhere else in the world. In North America, for example, there is not even a trace of it.
Anyway, what’s important to know is that smart downloads are finally coming to the stock YouTube app. However, sooner or later every premium subscriber will have the opportunity to save some auto-downloaded videos.
As already mentioned, there is no concrete date for the integration of this function yet. Still, the information circulating on the internet suggests a period of around two to three months for the new feature to reach everyone.
