As you may know, after losing in the battle between PS3 and Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 dominated the rivalry between Sony and Microsoft for the last generation without any major difficulties … and it seems the same is now repeated in the next generation of consoles!
In the end, Sony sells twice as much according to new estimates!
Sony continues to dominate Microsoft! PS5 sold twice as often!
Therefore, according to Ampere Analysis, Sony sold 12.8 million PlayStation 5 consoles (PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition) while Microsoft stayed at 6.7 million (Xbox Series S / X) units. (Sales figures through September 2021.)
Strangely enough, according to this data, the Xbox Series S sells considerably more than the Xbox Series X! This in several key markets. Which in turn proves that the market was ready for a next-generation “budget” console.
If you forget about the new generation, however, the company estimates about 9.1 million consoles sold in the third quarter of 2021 among all devices currently on the market, including the old generation (PS4, Xbox One, and Switch). Despite the fact that Sony is selling a lot more than Microsoft, Nintendo is taking advantage of the manufacturing crisis and the recent introduction of the OLED switch to surpass the PlayStation 5 without pity. A trend that is expected to continue throughout the 2021 holiday season, with Nintendo emerging as the big winner.
It’s amazing isn’t it? In the end, the Nintendo Switch OLED is nothing more than a small redesign with an OLED screen in the mix. Even so, the Japanese giant Nintendo can set foot on the giants Sony and Microsoft.
Besides, what do you think of all of this? Do you think Sony has already won? Or will it take a long time to come to such a conclusion? Please let us know what you think in the comments below.
