As we have done several times in ‘Leak.pt‘seems NVIDIA, which with its RTX 30.
After all, NVIDIA decided to put some real money on the table with the RTX 40 ‘Ada Lovelace’ in order to secure a large part of the production from the old partner’s 5 nm lines. Yes, NVIDIA will return with a serious investment in the arms of TSMC.
NVIDIA would rather spend money than stick with Samsung
For some reason (probably several), NVIDIA decided to cut a bit of its relationship with Samsung and join its ex-girlfriend TSMC. It’s still not certain that this will mean a 100% end to the relationship, with some sources guaranteeing NVIDIA will continue to produce some versions of its GPUs alongside Samsung, likely the low-end and mid-range versions.
We are therefore talking about an exchange that will probably bring more quality and hopefully more product stock! However, this also leads to a very large investment by the graphics card giant.
After all, NVIDIA had to put “billions” on the table to get a good share of production. ($ 3.5 billion!)
Quality pays off, but apparently for the GPU giant’s goals it is better to pay and know what lies ahead. In fact, as far as we know, NVIDIA had to pay immediately, as if it were a deposit, to gain access to the lines. A situation that does not occur with AMD, Apple, MediaTek etc.
Interestingly, this means that both NVIDIA and AMD will be using exactly the same production process for their new generation graphics cards, the 5nm from TSMC.
Besides, what do you think of all of this? A good decision from NVIDIA? Please let us know what you think in the comments below.
