MediaTek is 4nm. from TSMC back in the high-end sector

MediaTek never disappeared from the Android world, but in case you didn’t know, the processor manufacturer decided to move away from the higher ranges for a while to focus on the middle and lower ranges while focusing on the “drawing” “concentrated board”, for a ‘premium’ SoC of undeniable quality.

Well, it looks like it’s time to introduce a new high-end SoC from MediaTek! Make room for the Dimensity 9000, which of course has all the new technologies and features you can expect from a mobile SoC in 2021.

Therefore, the new Dimensity 9000 is based on the new Arm v9 architecture and the chip itself is manufactured on TSMC’s 4 nm lines. Interestingly enough, MediaTek is technologically ahead of all its competitors, which include Apple, Samsung and Qualcomm.

As for the processing itself, the most powerful core is a Cortex-X2 with 3.05 GHz, accompanied by three Cortex-A710 cores with 2.85 GHz and finally four Cortex-A510 cores with 1.8 GHz in March 2021, which in turn means that MediaTek is betting hard and ugly on this SoC and of course wants to make it available before there is a full reaction from the competition.

However, the GPU also has Arm, a Mali-G710, in an MP10 configuration, i.e. 10 cores. In terms of performance gains, Arm claims a 20 percent improvement over the Mali-G78. Which, in turn, seems to mean a 35% higher graphical experience than what we can find on the Android market.

As for the rest of the functions, we support WQHD + (144 Hz) and 2220 × 1080 at 180 Hz. A good SoC as a basis for gaming smartphones! Especially since we also support LPODDR5X RAM at 3750 MHz as well as 6 MB cache at the system level, which is basically double what we can find on the Snapdragon 888.

Interestingly, we support sensors up to 320 MP in the photographic sector!

Finally, in the area of connectivity, we have WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth LE, etc.

In short, it’s a very capable mobile SoC, and with the support of the right brands, it can make a dent in the Android world! Especially when it means a lower price tag compared to what Qualcomm and Samsung have to offer.
