The five bedroom residence is located on the 12th and 13th floors and overlooks Garden Island, Darling Point and Manly.

Mr Packer considered it his “private retreat” and reportedly employed a cook, chauffeur, nurse and housekeeper in the residence.

He began $ 2 million renovations just months before his death in 2005.

The renovators built an internal staircase connecting the two apartments. Mr. Packer also owned two apartments on the lower floors and dedicated them to his employees.

Former Secretary of State Jack Beale, who owned the property before Mr. Packer, said it was a place for Mr. Packer to escape.

‘[He] loved the place because it could escape other things, ”he said.

Mrs. Trethowan was a lover and long-time employee of Mr. Packer.

She ran his Hyde Park Club for 22 years – a health and fitness club that operated at the bottom of Packer’s office on Park Street.

Trethowan has amassed a large real estate portfolio, including residences in Whale Beach, Edgecliff and a commercial property in Bondi Junction, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

She had sold one of the lower apartments at Toft Monk for $ 3.25 million – after it was bought for $ 1.5 million in 1999.
