The US-China trade war seems never to end, something that began to gain momentum under Donald Trump and continues to escalate even under Joe Biden’s administration.
In order to circumvent the “old” restrictions, Huawei is now considering changing its strategy.
Huawei seems to have found a solution for its future
So it appears that Huawei is now planning to license its designs to companies outside of its ecosystem in order to circumvent US sanctions. In other words, we’ll see Huawei devices on the shelves under a different name, with everything we deserve, which is 5G processors and maybe, who knows, Google software.
Huawei will have China Postal and even Telecommunications Appliances Co. (PTAC) as partners, which, interestingly, are already helping the Chinese giant with the sale of the latest smartphone New 9.
This may be the only way for Huawei to “stay alive”
It is not new to anyone that Huawei is losing market share extremely quickly. As such, this partnership with PTAC and other companies may be the only way to keep your smartphone division that has been so successful in the Android world alive.
The problem is no longer just Google’s services, but even the chips! That the matter is not only tight for everyone, but is even more complicated for Huawei because of the restrictions imposed by the US government. In case you didn’t know, the latest smartphones from the Chinese manufacturer are not even based on their own Kirin processors, but on Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs, without 5G connectivity.
However, this piece can also be short-lived because we don’t yet know how Joe Biden will react “to the joke”. We have to wait and see.
