5 great Marvel games

Published

on

By

Everyone knows at least one Marvel superhero. The American comic publisher is one of the leading brands in pop culture and ranges from comics to films, series and large video games. In collaboration with large studios, the publisher brought their characters’ adventures to various consoles.

Of course, among several published titles, something similar happens with the big screen: there are the great successes and the absolute failures. Fortunately, there are more hits than errors, and that’s what we’re going to talk about here. To remember and get to know great hits Kanaltech separated five excellent Marvel games of different types and for different platforms.

5. Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes (2000)

Starting with a slap in the face (literally), the franchise where Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains competed against characters Street fighter, Mega man and even even Resident Evil, is one of the favorite fighting game fans.

The game was originally released for Dreamcast but received PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions in 2002 and a remake for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009. In all versions, the game has a main story campaign, arcade mode, and competitive location. Classic!

4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

Despite numerous reviews of the hero’s original film, which was released that same year, the Raven Software and Activision game came as a pleasant surprise. Released for PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii and Xbox 360, the game follows the plot of the film and shows Logan’s trajectory as a Canadian Army soldier until his bones were coated with adamantium.

At the time, the game had some of the best graphics that have been extensively explored in movie scenes and bloody fights. The title has the third person view, the mechanics of Chop and reduce in combat and even some classic visuals of the immortal character.

3. Marvel Ultimate Alliance (2006)

Members of the Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men and other heroes and anti-heroes team up to defeat Doctor Doom and roam several iconic comic book locations. Also developed by Raven Software, the game is one of the first that comes to mind in the best hero games. In addition, each character has costume variations that change their looks and abilities as well.

First released on PC, PS2 and Xbox, the game also had a “weaker” version with poor graphics and different gameplay on the Game Boy, as well as improvements to the PS3 and Xbox 360 ports.

2. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2021)

The recently released game by Eidos-Montréal and Square Enix captured the hearts of many people and delivered a very entertaining storyline that managed to overcome the somewhat confusing matches (and be what.) avenger it was not). The story shows Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocky and Groot on a journey against the space cult of the Universal Church of Truth.

In the game you can only control Peter Quill and use the other heroes in combos, which in theory doesn’t seem so cool, but works very well in practice. Another highlight is the soundtrack with classics from the 80s and even songs created exclusively for the game. Marvel’s Guardians of The Galaxy is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version runs on the cloud.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales (2018 and 2020)

Peter Parker’s all-new story from New York is one of the best hero games of all time – and even the best of the tenacious, and it’s also exclusive to PlayStation 4. You’ll meet other famous villains from their stories along the way.

With a very realistic city, multiple references, and side quests as good as the most important ones, it was easy for the Insomniac Games title to fall into the favor of the general public and critics.

In 2020 the studio released a remaster for PS4 and PS5 with improved graphics and separate adventure. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which takes place in the same universe and puts the Harlem hero in charge of the city while Peter travels through Europe. Even with a shorter story, this one manages to be as good as the original and have even cooler powers.
