GDDR7 memory on the go! 32 Gbit / s (GDDR6X = 21 Gbit / s)

In case you didn’t know, NVIDIA exclusively uses Micron’s GDDR6X memory, a type of memory for super-fast graphics cards that originally came out at 19.5 Gbps but is now expanded to 21 Gbps.

Well, this exclusivity could well have come to an end as Samsung completes the development of the even faster GDDR6X + and of course the next generation of memory GDDR7.

GDDR7 memory on the go! 32 Gbit / s (GDDR6X = 21 Gbit / s)

At the event at which Samsung demonstrated the news about RAM memory, namely DDR6 and LPDDR6 RAM, it also showed that there are very good things on the way to the world of graphics cards in the form of GDDR6X + and GDDR7 memory Has.

Other than that, all we know about GDDR7 memory is that we will have a bandwidth of 32 Gbps and a new real-time error protection feature. We will continue to learn more. But by comparison, Micron now has GDDR6X memory with two available speeds, 19.5 Gbps and 21 Gbps. These chips were the basis for NVIDIA’s current range of high-end graphics cards (RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090) and, according to all reports, will also add a touch of grace to the new RTX 40 next year.

In short, it is very likely that a new generation after the new generation will rely on Samsung’s new technology. And what kind of technology is that! We’re talking about a 50% increase in available bandwidth! Can you think of 24GB or 36GB of super-fast graphics memory? Yes, it will completely change the world of graphics cards.
