Do you still believe in folding? With the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, Samsung had the big goal of selling at least 7 million units worldwide. While it’s still a bit early to talk about the next foldable versions, Samsung seems to want to raise the bar yet again!
After all, Samsung now seems to have set itself the goal of selling around 10 million Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. Is that possible?
Do you still believe in folding? Samsung believes!
According to TheElec, Samsung is planning to produce around 10 million foldable devices in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. What is certain is that Samsung is again relying heavily on the foldable world. A clear attempt to make this segment more “casual” and of course to dominate it. But is there a future?
Well, compared to Samsung’s more “normal” range, we have 10 million devices compared to the planned 38 million Galaxy S22 smartphones that are now planned. In the lower ranges where we can find the Galaxy A13, A33 and A53, 78 million units are expected.
Interestingly, although 10 million seems like a lot, which isn’t even the company’s big bet, the Galaxy S21 FE will have 9 million units around the world. So … is the bet really that big?
In all honesty, I think the foldable device segment will never be what Samsung expects. The acceptance remains very weak, even at a time when we already have strange devices at a good price, like the Galaxy Z Flip 3. But let us know what you think! Do you think folding is going to become mainstream?
