Chrome: get ready to load pages in turbo mode!

Published

on

Chrome is the most used browser in the world and hands down one of the best. There are some complaints, however. The memory used and the impact on system resources are the most important. However, everything will change and Microsoft is contributing a lot. Now, with the new feature that will arrive in Chrome, you can load pages in turbo mode. The best part is that it does this on all platforms. That is, window, Linux or macOS. This new feature uses some sort of cache to allow local pages to be loaded instantly. However, there is also a new function to load external pages much faster!

Chrome: get ready to load pages in turbo mode!

As for internal pages, anything done through chrome: // will be faster. In practice this is the basis. Read the page diagonally so that when you reread it, you have the basics and everything will be faster. With a prototype of this function, Microsoft was able to reduce loading times by 11 to 20%.

But at the external site level, which is important to most people, everything gets better too. The increase in performance seems to be based on the implementation of the “back-forward cache” functionality, which is now on the way to the Windows, Linux and macOS versions.

What is it? How should the speed increase?

Your computer will very briefly begin to cache the entire previous page. So if you love to “go back,” it will happen almost instantly. Interestingly, Google Chrome has been around for Android since version 87.

This doesn’t just work on the page you are going back to, as the first time Chrome immediately caches the previously visited page as well as the page that is now following. That means, whether you are walking forward or backward, everything is displayed super fast.

In the end, what counts is that everything gets faster.

Windows 11: reclaim lots of PC space now!

Published

By

Many people have already switched to Windows 11 and are even satisfied. However, there is one question that could concern anyone in the near future. When you consider that most computers today rely on SSDs, in many cases the space is no longer what it used to be. In other words, we don’t have that much available capacity. For this reason and without waiting, we can run out of space. At this point Windows starts the warning. Fortunately, there is a way to reclaim a lot of space on your Windows 11 PC.

Windows 11: reclaim lots of PC space now!

First we need to research and then we start writing storage or cleaning recommendations. After the right, just click Open as shown in the image below.

A window will now appear showing the status of our hard drive. I pay special attention to the section on temporary files.

Now look for the section that has cleaning recommendations. For example, in the image below, we can see that we can recover up to 5GB of space.

More precisely, and if we click on this option, we will see in more detail what is taking up space. This will allow us to clean up the previous Windows installation, downloads, and recycle bin.

Of course, we can still see other information like large or unused files and unused applications.

The most important thing here is definitely the first part. If you’re not planning on going back to Windows 10, first clean up your previous Windows installations. After all, we occupied 6G. The same applies to transfers and recycling. We gained almost 9 GB of storage space.

However, if you are really concerned we can take a tour of the other sections.

With everything selected, just hit the Delete option.

A window will then appear to change that the selected files and their data will be permanently deleted. Then we just click on Next.

The process will start and we can follow the process in the cleaning recommendations window. However, we can still do things on Windows.

Inexpensive fuels. Is everything really equal to the liter?

Published

By

Given the current fuel price crisis in Portugal, to tell the truth, much is due to the heavy tax burden we have on our shoulders in Portugal, although it is a consequence of events on European territory. We have very good people who choose to fill up with petrol or diesel, and only at “low-cost” stations!

Which begs a question … What are “low cost” gas stations and fuels?

Well, we have the pumps from as an example Prius, from Intermarche, gives Auchan, from sweet drop, etc … That fuel is sold a little below the ‘normal’ market price.

That is, the term inexpensive It deserves its name because it is cheaper and because it is sold outside the networks of large gas stations such as Galp, Repsol, BP, Cepsa and others.

In case you didn’t know: All fuels sold in Portugal are refined in Sines (formerly also in Matosinhos). The same refinery that supplies Galp, BP or Cepsa also supplies Prio or the hypermarket pumps.

In short, fuels without additives (Simple), which are the most commercialized fuels in Portugal, are all the same. In addition, it must also be mentioned that all petrol stations on national soil are properly checked.

So are ‘low-cost’ fuels bad for our cars or is everything tailored to the liter? It is precisely on this subject that we have a curious study by Deco.

Inexpensive fuels. Is everything really equal to the liter?

In case you didn’t know, Deco has a very interesting study on the use of ‘premium’ fuels and ‘low cost’ fuels with the always famous title “Everything is the same as the liter“. (shortcut)

Because according to the above information and the results of the same study, everything is actually the same as with the liter!

We are talking about a study based on 4 types of diesels which are a less refined fuel than gasoline and therefore more likely to cause problems for injectors, filters, etc.

However, the fuels used in the study were the market leaders at the time.

  • Galp Gforce
  • Galp Hi-Energy
  • Jumbo (now Auchan)
  • Intermarche

How was the test done?

Well, Deco got their hands on four identical cars, new, and each of them used only one of those fuels and covered 12,000 kilometers during the test.

The idea was very simple! After the 12,000 kilometers driven in the four cars, everything was dismantled to see the effects of each fuel on the main components of the car.

In addition, the average autonomy of each of these cars was also noted to see if the promises of “more KMs” were really true or not.

Conclusions?

No significant differences were found within the engine or within the tank. In the area of consumption, there was only a difference of 0.13 liters per 100 km between the best and worst case. A negligible difference, as incorrect tire pressure alone can have an impact of 5% on fuel consumption.

In short, the promises of lower consumption, fewer pollutant emissions and more engine protection with future savings are nothing more than pure marketing, according to Deco. To invoice the end user a further ten cents per liter.

Besides, what do you think of all of this? Do you agree with these observations and studies? Let us know what you think in the comments box below.

OneDrive: solve synchronization problems with Windows!

Published

By

OneDrive syncs with Windows 10 and Windows 11 to back up our files in the cloud. However, sometimes there can be issues that prevent OneDrive sync from working properly. A reset can solve all situations.

OneDrive: solve synchronization problems with Windows!

OneDrive works great, but like other apps, nothing is bug-free. Although they are rare, they sometimes run into problems and it is even necessary to reset the app to fix the syncing problems with Windows.

Am i losing files?

No. Everything that is stored on your PC stays on your PC. Likewise, what is on OneDrive remains on OneDrive. What happens is that existing connections are terminated. In fact, the main purpose of resetting OneDrive is to disconnect and reconnect. However, don’t worry because this process isn’t that complicated.

But before we reset, we can try something else.

If you’re using Windows 10, right-click the OneDrive icon and choose the Close OneDrive option. If you are using Windows 11 there is only one more step required. So right click, then click Help and Settings and choose the option to Close OneDrive.

A window will appear asking if you really want to close OneDrive. Just click the Close OneDrive button.

To reopen OneDrive just use Windows search and write OneDrive. After the right hand side, just click Open and that’s it. The method is the same for Windows 10 and 11.

If that doesn’t solve the problem then we really need to roll back.

The process is very simple. First enter and in the Windows search. Then click Open on the right.

Put after the run window

%localappdata%MicrosoftOneDriveonedrive.exe /reset

Then just click OK.

Then OneDrive will be closed. Then we just go to Windows Search and write OneDrive and run that app again.

However, OneDrive is available for mobile platforms. You can find it in the Play Store here.
