Blackburn Rovers are reportedly set to rekindle interest in a disgraced Sheffield United striker

Blackburn Rovers are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Sheffield United striker Oliver Burke.

So says Sun journalist Alan Nixon, who claims the Blades may be ready to loan him or for a cheap permanent contract.

Rovers was interested in a loan switch for Burke during the summer window too, but was unable to get the deal across the line on the cutoff date.

Burke has fought heavily for playing time at Bramall Lane this season and has not played a single minute in the league since losing 4-0 to former West Bromwich Albion in August.

The 24-year-old has never really established himself as a regular for the Blades since joining the club in summer 2020.

He has only scored two goals in 35 games and is behind Billy Sharp, David McGoldrick, Rhian Brewster, Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie in the pecking order.

And that could open the door for a move to Rovers in January, who will look to strengthen their roster to keep their promotion spurt going.

Tony Mowbray’s team are currently second in the championship table after beating Huddersfield Town 0-0 on Sunday, three points behind leaders Bournemouth.

They will also look to assist striker Ben Brereton-Diaz who has been in great shape so far this season.

Brereton-Diaz has already hit the 20-goal mark in the league, which is by far his highest-scoring season to date.
