President Biden and the Democrats in Congress are doing less in Washington than a majority of voters expected, according to a new poll.
Meanwhile, a separate poll released this week shows that Biden’s approval rating has hit the lowest point of his presidency.
The sluggish poll results came as the Biden administration faced inflation fears among American consumers, a renewed spike in coronavirus cases – prompting governments and businesses alike to adopt protocols similar to 2020 – and the deadlock on the president’s political agenda struggled in Congress. where Biden’s Build Back Better spending plan encountered an obstacle in the form of the Democratic Senate Joe Manchin’s decision not to endorse the legislation.
In a poll conducted December 18-20 by Morning Consult and Politico, 41% of respondents said Democrats in Congress had achieved less than they expected, compared with 10% who said they had more achieved than expected and 32% said they achieved what they expected.

Now, only 41% of Americans say they approve of the job Biden has done since then, according to a joint study by NPR / PBS NewsHour / Marist College.
Perhaps most troubling for the Democrat, he saw his support among independent voters drop eight points in just one week, PBS reported.
The survey was conducted December 11-13. Among the results, according to PBS:
Fifty-five percent of Americans say they dislike Biden’s job performance, and 44 percent say they strongly dislike it. The rejection of 55% is 20 points higher than when Biden took office, while the result “strongly negative” is 6 points higher than in a Marist survey carried out just a week earlier.

Results across party lines: 95 percent of Republicans say they disapprove of Biden’s job performance, and while the president is supported by 87% of voters in his own party, his disapproval rate among Democrats has increased 7 points since he took office, PBS reported.
Among the Independents: Two-thirds of non-party voters say they oppose Biden, half say they strongly oppose, according to PBS. Both results represent an increase of at least 30 points since the day of inauguration. Overall, only 29% of independents support the president, the report said.
