A leading sleep expert has revealed how you can get a good night’s sleep on hot summer nights.
Olivia Arezzolo from Sydney described four ways to better close your eyes, including taking a shower before bed to cool off.
In a recent Instagram post, Olivia suggested sleeping naked with socks on, sleeping on sheets made from natural fabrics, and using a cooling mattress topper.

First, Olivia recommended sleeping on a cooling mattress topper, which she claims can be “more effective” than an air conditioner running because it is closer to your body.
“This will send cool water through the tubes in the mattress topper so you can stay cool all evening,” she wrote.
However, some may not be able to justify the cost as the product ranges from $ 150 to $ 1,199.
Top retailers selling cooling mattress toppers include Kogan, Luxdream, Tontine, and Chili Sleep.
She also suggested sleeping on sheets made from natural fabrics – such as cotton, bamboo, linen, or silk – that were 200 to 400 thread count.
“Natural fibers regulate heat – they have the ability to absorb and dissipate heat,” she said.

Before going to bed, Olivia also recommended taking a shower to cool the body down. “The drop in core body temperature when you step out of a warm shower into a cool bathroom is indicative of melatonin synthesis,” she said
To encourage heat loss and stay cool, she thinks it is a good idea to sleep naked with socks on.
According to the Sleep Foundation, regulating the temperature while falling asleep is essential and wearing socks in bed helps lower core body temperature.
As a result, wearing socks in bed helps a person fall asleep faster because the warming of the feet increases blood flow.
